The 1990s in the back catalogue

The nineties turn up a lot in the back catalogue, which makes sense: it is a decade almost everyone has watched their way through. Here are the ones that landed in that ten-year stretch, by number.

#0045, from 1992, is a hand-drawn musical about a street thief who finds a magic lamp. #0031, from 1993, is a comedy about a man trapped reliving the same winter day over and over.

Nineteen ninety-four was a bumper year, and three of its titles are in here. #0021 follows a good-natured man through decades of American history. #0029 is an animated story of a young lion and the uncle who wants him gone. #0041, from the same year, is a sitcom about a group of twenty-somethings sharing flats in New York.

And #0042, from 1997, closed the decade as the biggest film in the world, the period romance that swept the Oscars. Between them they cover most of what the nineties did best: animation, high-concept comedy, sweeping drama and the sitcom.
