KINO is a daily film and TV guessing game. You get one title a day and five clues to name it from, in as few guesses as you can. It's free, and there's nothing to download or sign up for.

Here's how a go works. You open today's puzzle and see a blurry piece of artwork with the first clue. You take a guess. Get it wrong and the picture sharpens a bit, and the next clue drops. The clues come in the same order every day: the year, then the box office or number of seasons, then the director, then a supporting actor, and last of all the lead. The earlier you get it, the higher you score. When you're done you can share how you did and come back tomorrow.

It's meant to be quick. I wanted something you could play in a couple of minutes on your phone without being nagged for an email, and that gave everyone the same puzzle on the same day so you could compare with friends. Films and TV made sense because almost everyone has seen enough to stand a chance, and there's never a shortage of titles to turn into a puzzle.

When you finish, the reveal screen tells you what it was, usually with a trailer and, where we can find it, where to watch it. So even a puzzle that beats you is worth something. You come away knowing a film you might have missed.

If you want more than one a day, there's a back catalogue. Every past puzzle is still there to play. The very first one, #0001, went up the day KINO launched, and there's been a new one every day since.

One thing worth knowing. KINO keeps your scores on your own device rather than a server, so there's no login and nothing to forget. The catch is that clearing your browser data will wipe your history with it. And since there's no account, the way you bring other people in is just to share your result. That's the engine, really: one puzzle a day, passed from person to person.
